I Stand Here Now

With my hand on my heart, I stand here now-
the sun casting shadows beneath this tree;
were silence is heard, as soft winds allow
a soothing caress enveloping me.
With my hand on my heart, I feel its pain
recalling that day- still hard to believe.
Now counting the years, again and again;
and still, peace and closure- so hard to receive.
With my hand on my heart, my tears still flow
as though it's the first time I'm standing here.
No matter how often the years come and go-
those memories waiting- always appear.
With my hand on my heart- I hold the love
still buried within, to never escape.
And though you rest here, from heaven above,
please feel my love from this earthly landscape.
With my hand on my heart- I feel you, Dad,
and hold tight your love that mingles with mine.
Refreshed- I depart not feeling so sad;
with my hand on my heart- our souls entwine.
