I Love Food

I'm just an old hillbilly
Mother's milk was a bowl of chili
I love anything fried
Extra grease on the side
Add bacon and I get plumb silly

A steak two inches thick
Or a slow roasting pig on a stick
Fresh fish from a brook
As long as it's cooked
I'll eat 'til I make myself sick

Vegetables red, yellow, or green
Baked, broiled, grilled or steamed
Some I'll eat raw
I love 'em all
My plate will always be clean

Addicted to all kinds of sweets
I even like red pickled beets
Cakes, cookies and pies
'Anything caramelized
Chocolate on top can't be beat

Gravy with mashed potatoes
Hamburgers with onion and tomatoes
A crock pot of beans
Dumplings and greens
Leftovers out of the refrigerator

Milk is what I like to drink
Lemonade yellow or pink
Ice tea sugar sweet
Is it time to eat
I'm so hungry I can no longer think

A man after my stomach!!! I too am a foodie, Danny. I have numerous food poems at Soup. We sure do have THAT in common, our great love for food. Though I must say, the veggies I can only stand to eat if they are in a salad with lots of other stuff added to it, like great tasting dressing and croutons! I certainly did enjoy finding this one. And I see it got a win in a food contest, so a very belated congrats to you. I bet I was in that contest too!!!

thought I would go a different route to try to track down poems of yours I have not seen yet. I looked them up by form and saw you had done a number of limericks. Since I love limericks, let me now read this set!!

Daniel wonderful write enjoyable to read congratulations on your win. Thank you so very much for reading my poem “ I love Food.” I have decided not to write in the reply box anymore , I don't receive any anymore comments from anyone for a few months. I don't know if it is my computer or Soups end. Hugs Eve

This is an excellent set of limericks, Daniel!! Entertaining, smooth flowing and appetizing. Pity cholesterol has put paid to most of these tempting offerings!! ~ Regards // paul

Thank you Paul. It was a lot of fun. Actually I am on a low calorie diet as I have had heart surgery. But my memory of food is still kicking. LOL I appreciate the visit and the kind comments.

We were so poor when I grew up.... I was in the army before I discovered that pinto beans wasn't a breakfast cereal. Good one Daniel. Good luck in the contest.

Sorry about the skip Janice. Yeah, I know the feeling! I'm one of those kinda guys, I don't care what you call me as long as you call me in time to eat. I appreciate the visit and I hope it made you smile.
