I Learned {resubmit}
I bathed in the pool of knowledge
salty from the tears
Paced across its barren floors
year after year
I learned to listen to the wind
where there was no wind at all
I learned to ponder everything
things both great and small
I learned how to remember
and how to forget
I learned how to dream
and how to regret
I learned how to taste
the memory of romance
I learned the pain of empty arms
dreaming of a dance
I learned time is everything
as it ticks away
I learned it has a consequence
one thats hell to pay
I learned about a carpenter
a prophet and a Lord
I learned to use my pen
to help me when I'm bored
I learned nothing matters
as much as the soul
I learned that when you find it
it brings meaning to your goals
I learned to cherish everything
about the human heart
I learned I needed to make amends
to those I broke apart
I learned that I am nothing
just a simple man
I learned to try and be
everything I can
But most of all what I learned
I learned how to pray
And ask the Lord guide me
through another day
