I Hear My Heart Call

My lonely voice pierces the silent night
No one will hear me in the saddest dark
Stars aloft hold no comfort or delight
They shine not for me on their journey's arc
The face I see fades in the tear-stained sky
I call out for only one more minute
Still, I question all the reasons for why
My world is lifeless without you in it
In my loneliness, I reach out in vain
Find nothing but two hands trembling still
And grasp only the hollow dark of pain
This emptiness found I will never fill
I hear my heart call in the silent night
I watch love's world scatter beyond the light
