I Have a Mind

Mindlessly I was watching
a T.V. show about an android
who had an artificial soul
when eureka! I realized, for
the first time in 60 years,
that I have a mind!

Silly you say-- we all have one.
Yes, I respond, but how very
extraordinary it is to have
a mind: rocks don't, nor stars
nor honeybees. Not even my
beloved dog, who has a brain,
(and a good one for an animal)
but he lacks a mind. I know
that for certain because he's
never once asked me,
"Is there a God?"
