I Get Lost In the Night
sometimes i lose myself
in the obstinacy of night
beyond the umbrage of shadows
that fall within its tenebrous self
'tis there death dances
spinning around wayward souls
tempting them to follow
into depths unknown
i feel the strength
of fingers hold
beyond turned wrists
pressing firm
within the brawn
as shallow breath
exhales stale air
i see its face
from clouded moon
reach out to me
dubious that i will fall
silent within the rise
of bloodied skies
that morning brings
i feel the mist of its breath
fall upon me like night's fog
as it beads atop my brow
i succumb to thoughts
within restless mind
sprawl my ink
upon the sheets
of paper-white
and write again
within the darkness
that night unfolds
