I FELL HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE ON POETRY SOUP

I can't quite recall who introduced us perhaps it was Andrea or maybe it was Roy But... for me it was love at first sight! I have to admit you were not my usual type but oh boy your personality won me over and I was howling with laughter in your company I studied your form intently especially the cheeky bits! It was obvious from the start that you were short but what you lacked in length you made up for in so many other ways!!! It didnt take long for me to perfect my technique and I really had a blast! Day or night I couldn't get enough of you It was a case of any time any place any where In our early days I'd toss and turn in bed often waking in the wee small hours but I was always thinking of you Sadly, over recent months my passion for you has waned in fact, some days I seldom give you a second thought Limericks, you will always be my poetry love But by using chat GP and plagiarism some poets here have stolen the joy from my heart by creating you at the push of a button!

Oh wow. As I read this, I guessed pretty fast you were writing about limericks. Yes, it is so sad if people create them with AI here. Does AI even get the meter right, though? Haven't heard from you in a while. I hope all is well. Love this poem

This poem and Tina Turner's song do so much go hand in hand, Jan! In a couple of months you'd have been 12 yrs on Soup, and many are the Limericks which have done you proud. Sadly, as you say, AI and plagiarism have dealt a blow to honest writers. Still...we plod on :) Warm regards and hugs // paul

It's so sad, Jan. Unfortunately, this world is full of bigots, cheaters and thieves. I get what you are saying though. I've met a lot of wonderful people on this site but have also come across some mean and hateful ones too. I just tap my heals three times and puff their gone (lol) Love your poetry. Congrats on POTW! Hugs xoxo Charlie

Hi Jan. You had me fooled there for a minute and I was going through some names from long ago. My muse deserted me so my canvas has been blank but I agree AI has dented the joy of completing and then competing. I also miss the days of no adds here as it's now like trying to find the tree among the forest. But I have such fond memories of supporting friends here such as yourself. Congratulations on you POTW.

I like the humor in your limericks. It's too bad about the plagiarists. By stealing our poems, the plagiarists are invalidating our souls. They should be ashamed.

I am laughing out loud! I needed that today! I, myself, enjoy a good limerick. I have never been the best at writing them though. Are people really using AI on here? What would be the point? I agree, that takes so much away from poetry. It’s actually very sad. Great write!

Hi Jan...as a lover of limericks myself, I know that love will never die no matter what. I find that the form is perfect for getting to the point directly and with clarity. Using AI to compose takes away the whole point of authorship. The challenge is figuring out how to be brief and direct. It's a puzzle to solve it, and using AI takes all the fun away. Some don't get it. Anyway, sending you smiles!!!

Dear Jan, this POTW is such a fun, clever twist on poetic love, and I agree with Maureen, it never dies. A perfect mix of humor and heart, and real honesty, where does creativity go when there is no need? Will we be replaced? Warm, witty, and real. Autumn Blessings, Dear Jan, Daniel

Dear Jan, Congrats on POTW! I think it is something many of us feel when artistry gets replaced by shortcuts. So witty, warm and wonderfully human. Thanks for saying what needed saying, and for saying it with style. Autumn Blessings, Dear Jan, Daniel

I too have gotten away from the website, but mine is a little different. Like the hourglass as sand slowly falls through, I too am wasting away in thought of creating. Enjoyed reading my friend. Congratulations on POTW

Congratulations on your POTW win. I enjoyed reading this wonderful write. I always enjoy reading your wonderful writes. Keep Them Coming... Guess AI is here to stay. I do Not use it and I do Not like it. Yesterday a friend wrote a poem then gave it to AI to write. Everyone picked the AI as his. So Sad.... Have a wonderful day writing away with your win..............
