I Drove Into the Night
I drove into the night
Under the street light
I journeyed into my mind
Trying so hard to find
A reason to accept my life
A reason to admit to my crimes
I drove deeper into the night
I tried hard but nowhere could I find
Reasons for accepting my life
Reasons for owning my crimes
I drove faster, deeper into the night
I decided to turn off the lights
I decided I could not own my crimes
I decided I could not live a lie
I drove harder, deeper, faster into the dark
Then everything turned so very black
But tied to the point of my demise was me
No body, no life, not free
Here I stay where my conscience haunts me.
