I Did Not Believe In Angels, Till

I did not believe in angels
Til I saw your satin face;
My God, your eyes consumed me so--
Gave my heart the will to race.

Oh lovely, I am at your feet,
I have known you in my dreams;
You own my heart, now soothe my soul
With moonlight's powder beams.

Take me to where angels go,
If there's anyway you can;
Or lay your wings and halo down
And know me as a man.

As I would trade my very life
For this, and only this;
To experience the ecstasy
Of your sweet, angelic kiss.

Hi Lucilla, and thank you so much for visiting and reading this poem...it has a special place in my somewhat fragile heart. I also believe in angels, and I often use that image of grace and ultimate beauty to help me express and emote as I write--of love in particular. Thank you again, my dear...xxx...Mel

Hi Mel, my newest favorite poet:) Thank you for the comment, on my comment, about your comment on my comment.<----- LOL I just had to I could not resist. PS/ I decided every time I get a poetry soup notification, that my comment just received a comment. I'm taking it upon myself 2 thank the person, on another comment box. These comments on comments drive me nuts. By the way, I like it when you and others, take your time, in returning the love. Mel, just today I have removed over 600 soup notifications from my e-mail box, that I received in less than a week. LOL... Wow, more than half were poets, thanking me for a win, or stopping by. WOW... Crazy HU... I'm letting you know this, because I'm going to drive everyone crazy, by thanking them for commenting my comment. LOL... Not you, your XOOL, and I know you are lots of fun. SO please, smile every time I thank you for the reply. And please don't ever stop stopping by my poems. Your comments are appreciated. HUGS ~ Forever PD

That wasn't a comment, it was a Novella lol As you know, I love a girl with a sense of humor, and this one made lol. Comments on comments. How do you do it? And, how did you ever get such a huge following? You're like the God of Soupland lol I do look forward to your comments, though. Hugs and smiles...xox...Mel :)

Thank you my dearest and bestest friend :) I'm the guy who always brings roses on a date...or wishes he were one lol Fair to say I'm a sentimental fool; a hopeless/hopeful romantic. I'm very pleased that you liked this heavenly write. There will be more :) Luv and hugs...mel :)

Thank you Nathan. My daughter's soon to have a baby, and I told her if it was a boy, to name him Nathaniel--which would get shortened down to Nathan, or even Nate. Will be a girl, though. That's an old family name--the first Merrill to arrive the pioneers. Anyway, thanks for the visit and nice comment. Come again soon :)

Yeah, and I was a heck of a football and baseball player, too. Imagine that :) I had to retire from both, so I figured I'd become a romantic instead. Now rather than scoring touchdowns and hitting homeruns, I'm wishing I was a rose...HELP! Thanks for the visit, my dear friend...xxx...mel :)

Do you need reviving lol It's in the Merrill genes. John and Nathaniel were intrepid pioneers, but lousy poets. Too busy foraging for food, I suspect. So, it's on me now. Thank you for the visit and support, darlin'...xxx...mel :)
