I Did It My Way

I often do things my way
some times getting into trouble
especially when I was younger
the rules were there for breaking

A real scourge when at school
my teachers often despaired
boarding school was not fun
except for secret midnight rides

Even now I still go my way
although staying with in the law
my dad says I have my own way
of doing things, he is quite right

I just refuse to be a sheep
blindly following the others
if it does not make sense
then I always go my own way

footnote
I used to sneak out on moonlit nights catch up a horse and ride it through the fields
with just a halter or bridle great fun

hahaha, Silly me. You just judged that contest and it completely skipped my mind that you had been the judge of it. That is awesome that you did a poem with your own topic. I don't always do that when I host a contest!!

Shadow, finally seeing this one and wishing it had made the winners' list because it is the one poem I relate to the most in this category of "I did it My way" I was like this too and will be doing what I want until the day I die!!

Your father rightly said everyone has his or her way to do things and yu have rightly said that whatever is to be done, that must be done in accordance with law. Really nice. Loved always, my lovely friend, bl

First off thank you for the first placement on your contest. It is a true story of a job I walked out from. We sometimes have to do it our way. I have a son who has followed his own drummer all his life so when your wrote this wonderful poem it brought a smile to my face because he would also sneak out and do things his way. love phyl

Sounds like fun. Godiva style??? It is good to march to the beat of your own drummer or as Monterey says " to the beat of her own accordian."

This is Shadow; You remind me of my sister. She always said - she was sorry of nothing, because she had done it her way. Frankly - I see nothing wrong with that. I pretty much have done things my way, not that I was always right, but at least I had no one to blame. Thanks for sharing... Lucilla

a lovely poem, so free spirited, i was rebellious as a teen as was bullied by my sisters and once my mother had left home i made a decision i wasnt going to let my sisters rule me, so used to say out late and play knocka door run and stuff especialy when i was locked out, drome me crazy been treated like a stray dog, never did anything too bad, just ignoring what was said by them,.

I always looked at it in my own way too, when everyone runs I walk, when they walk I run, good for you it shows strength of character and will..
