I buried a bluejay today. He flew with grace into a window pane. From my sunroom I watched and heard the Kaplunk. I buried a bluejay today. I watched him take his last breaths. Broken neck aside the rose bush. I buried a bluejay today. Along with some vegetables so he could decay. And blanketed gently with some fresh soil. I buried a bluejay today. If I could have saved his life, it would have been my pleasure. But God works in mysterious ways. I buried a bluejay today.

Such a poignant poem, and so nice that you care about a tiny bird. I wrote one about a dove that flew into my window and I buried it - called "Requiem." We're on the same page in that respect :) Very nice write.

Oh so sad... yes, God's ways are always mysterious and unexpected, but we have strong faith in Him... Well penned... ~ Ani

Yes! And in a fallen world it would be nice if everyone had the same sentiment!
