i breathe darkness

I breathe darkness
Exhaled into the fleeing light
Making shadows weep
Stirring the fetid kiss of dusk
Lurking in my moonless charm
Silent wings seizing my soul
Staring into my emptiness
Fulfilling their latent need
                                          …to inhale

At the end of this dusk to darkness that tries to steal your soul, I'm left wondering if the inhalation of your next breath (and please say there was one) I'm wondering if taking that next breath allowed you to see that there would be light from the moon shining on you and that by dawn you were filled with hope. Emotional angst written into this one, John.
