I Am the Soldier's Worst Nightmare

I am the soldier's worst nightmare, I come at night as he lays sleeping, With shouts and guns firing, I torment him, He awakens in a cold sweat, screaming. Sometimes I bring the horrors of killing, Of innocent women and children wounded, Of family pets with legs blown off, O f blood soaking--making green grass red. Whether in the Army now, or fifty years back, I can still awaken him with my horrors, Whether soldier, sailor, or marine, I am there, Yes, I am his worst nightmare. Sometimes, I am the enemy begging for his life, Then pulling a gun and trying to shoot, Making him think that even an act of mercy, Can result in more pain then he can bear. Yes, I am the soldier's worst nightmare.
