Notes About The Poem

In the hands of the master poet...

I Am Ink

I am but a tube of ink,
and I live inside a poet's pen.
If I want to be useful
I must realize
alone I cannot write.
I must allow me to be held
by the hand of the poetic mind.
My job is to unleash their thoughts
and be the tool that expresses
the world inside their mind.
I am but a tube of ink,
and I live inside a poet's pen.

Your poem is so unique and ingeniously crafted. Yes, many factors have to come together for the birth of a poem. Ink and pen, a hand to hold it and a mind with imagination. All the best, Miranda. Write on, dear friend.

A wonderful idea for that one contest prompt. Well, I take it that's what this is meant for. I like it a lot.

Miranda, This is a sweet little poem. I especially like the very last line, " ... I live inside a poet's pen."

What a wonderful poem about the relationship between a poet and their medium—ink—symbolizing the idea that creativity requires collaboration between the creator and their tools.

I had been thinking about this poem the entire day when I wrote it. But I will be honest and confess, that I wrote the poem between 11:00 p.m. and midnight after taking some unisom to help me sleep.
