I am

I have never been able to hide from the fact that I am black Because the world won’t let me Because of the judgment it has placed The color of my skin is black but I am brown What is black What is brown Why is color used to separate us all around Black has always been some sort of lack To the worlds eye at least The comparison The mimicking Yet we are ridiculed Like we are nothing Like I am nothing You voice your voice You are too loud You say how you feel You are too aggressive You are too much Tone it down Are you even listening to the words To the pain that echos all around They want to loudly replicate our culture But not make a peep for your safety or for you to live freely Not a single sound The world says I am black but I am brown What is brown It even has my brothers and sisters fighting over who is lighter, who is darker We are all different But the same We all bleed red Why continue to play their game What is this system What is this about Destruction for all Until there is no one left to cry out The world says I am black, pigment says I am brown What is black What is brown I am human We are human Take a look around
