Hymn of the Heart

"The mountains are my bones, the rivers are my veins, the forests are my thoughts, and the stars are my dreams, the ocean is my heart, it's the pounding of my pulse, the sound of earth writes the music of my soul. " Quote by_ Unknown my heart speaks of my pain for my soul has been shattered battered by the years the garden of my spirit ravaged it is holding on by a thread the music in my soul is screaming for release so, I will pen my bleeding words and let them pour the song my soul never seeks the little girl laying so still I know she is my big sister her dress is pretty I whisper the face of an angel my dress is too I tell her I am so young and innocent holding fathers hand and he is weeping looking up at him I realize it is not father it is death . . . I wake from this dream again and again storms have always shaken the ocean of my sleep my hair is a flowing river streaming down as I walk the rows and rows of headstones each death has left me sorrowful scars are the roadmap of my soul now my family just shadows on the wall of time clouds sail across the sky I am in a lush green forest with father I am older now we are hiking and he is telling me about the trees and birds now, I am with mother in her garden sipping tea and laughing I am a young woman we have just planted some flowers I look up and mother is gone and the sweetness that was the garden is no more these are just the memories of long ago the song my soul never seeks I am holding my new born baby boy he is so beautiful then, death is ripping him out of my arms at the cemetery I am made of stone then, I am kissing my true love but his lips are cold I trace his face crying, crying, crying death has taken him too this is the song my soul never seeks why, I ask the sky

Dear Constance, I must say you really moved me to tears wid this one 😢❤️‍🩹 ~ your words made my heart quiver and my pulses rushed, feeling the poignancy that you've poured in each line.. beautiful soul. The ache, the pain and the grief. . everything that you've faced through the fatality of life really comes alive.. the way you've laid out your spirit ~ bare with scars ~ I could really feel the antagonising agony and hear the sorrowful cries, about your big sister, your mum, the baby... And the way you talk about ur father, sigh. We truly question life and its cruelties, but it is how it is, altho it was never the song that we wished for .. thank you so much for entering the first contest of mine, with this poetically profound poem! Congratulations on your well-deserved top win! 🌹⭐⭐🌙🌹

"I wake from this dream again and again" may be the poem's quiet centre. It understands that trauma does not merely survive in memory—it rehearses itself until sleep becomes another country ruled by loss. Equally unforgettable is "I am made of stone." After the flood of emotion preceding it, that simple declaration reveals the final stage of grief: not tears, but the terrible mercy of feeling nothing. Very few poems know where restraint is stronger than description. This one does. A deeply moving and deserving winner. Ever in wonder, Mohit Mitra
