How the Butterfly Got Its Wings
Many years ago, the Earth was plagued with disease and sadness. There was only a drop of hope left in the world. Gaea, goddess and mother of all things beautiful, sought to create a symbol of hope. She journeyed down to Earth to find the most pathetic of creatures and give it a rebirth. She traveled to the desert, to the ocean, and to the forest. That’s when she saw it, a lonely caterpillar slowly making its way across the Earth. Gaea took the caterpillar and traveled with it back to the kingdom and called upon others to help her.
Soteria, the goddess of safety and salvation, bestowed a rebirth to the caterpillar. He will come back with wings and stronger than ever. She will give the creature the ability to blend in with its new wings, and for there to be poison in its offspring so they will not be eaten. Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, turned the caterpillars wings into rich colorful works of art. These will make people stop and admire the creatures beauty.
Gaea brought the creature back to Earth. Little by little the population of the new creature grew. The gods and goddess watched as more and more people admired the beauty and watched the rebirth of the caterpillar. And slowly the hope grew on Earth just a little bit more.
