How Human We Are

How human we are

When chill wind blows,
and tempest storms are done,
You will find me waiting,
when the evening comes.

No matter the tears, that we both have shed
we'll forget them and rejoice... instead.

Chorus

Everyday... as the world burns
we remember who we are
we remember who we are
And everyday, are lessons learned?
(remember) how human we are
(remember) how human we are

A generation goes,
as another one comes...
They'll keep on fighting,
like they've always done.

They calm their fears, with blood they have shed
but hatred lingers, as both bury their dead.

Chorus

Everyday... as the world burns
we remember who we are
we remember who we are
And everyday, are lessons learned?
(remember) how human we are
(remember) how human we are

Bridge 1

After a lifetimes spent, will we reflect having no regret?
We sit and stare in silence, bound forever, and for good...
Shared suffering is better, yes, it's better by far...
let's not forget... how human we are

Chorus

Everyday... as the world burns
we remember who we are
we remember who we are
And everyday, are lessons learned?
(remember) how human we are
(remember) how human we are

how human we are
how human we are
how human we are

repeat and fade

Great song lyrics John, I've had someone approach me who wants to turn one of my poems into a song.. Look forward to see how it sounds...

Hope it works out for you, nothing more satisfying than to hear your words put to music. I have a composer here in Niagara that worked on one of my lyrics and I cried like a baby first time I heard it, thanks SO!!

Oh it always changes and morphs, but the crux of it stays throughout, no matter how many changes I make, that first idea I heard will be in the final mix. If you and I lived close we'd be cranking out songs like crazy, lol. ;-) LOVE it!

Yep, yep, yep ... love this!! If you knew me in person you'd laugh, cuz I hear music with lyrics as SOON as I read them ... I either hear a melody, or chord changes, or a groove, or the whole production, the moment I read lyrics. It's not anything special, I'm not saying that, (cuz honestly, like perfect pitch it is a curse, and it makes me completely crazy and even angry at times cuz I can't shut it off).

Yeh I do the same thing, it's not a curse it is a gift, the only thing is sometimes I can't sleep at night until I get the words on paper, not gifted with a great memory, I often forget the lyrics as soon as they are down on paper, cest la vie! Thanks Greg!!
