Notes About The Poem

How Do You Define What Is Humourous

Would it be considered nefarious If I call my poems ‘hilarious’ Our humour is subjective … I write from MY perspective It’s a trait of my sign Aquarius! I have never categorised any of my poems as ‘hilarious’ as what I consider is humourous is a matter of opinion and often when I read ‘hilarious’ poems I don’t find them that amusing 01~27~17

That is the crux of the matter Jan. Already I have deleted two Limericks others did not find funny at all. I must be warped.

yes, very true, my friend - although I think hilarious could safely be applied to your limericks

I would never use the 'hilarious' category Jack I prefer to use humourous and let people decide if they think its hilarious or not:-) hugs jan xx

LOVE this, Jan. Writing from your heart. Yes, hilarious is very hard to come by. I think my only truly hilarious one was Gotta go, gotta go right now. Now I see his contest is filling so fast. DAng, why can't I use that old pee poem of mine?

On average most humorous poem are just that, without being truly hilarious. This was a good limerick, Jan, with, as Ilene says, well said. I, too, am by nature conservative (though not stuffy conservative), I find it bizarre that I write humorous verse at all! Where it comes from I have not the smallest clue. Thanks for stopping. / M

I don't know where the humour comes from Maurice but it just flows - my aunt and uncle both wrote limericks I guess its in my blood. I have never classed any of my poems as 'hilarious' and few on the site that are classed as that really make me lol:-) I love YOUR humour and Ilene's you always make me smile:-) hugs Jan xx

Cute limerick, Jan. Hilarity borders on ludicrous or nonsensical at times. And nefarious comes close to criminal and I don't that describes any poem although some (not yours) are diabolical. Nice word play, I enjoyed your piece.

I think we all approach and perceive humor differently but thankfully, your definition and mine seem to love to laugh together. Really nice Jan.

I agree totally with you Chris and I won't bother with the 'hilarious poetry' contest as I often see poems labeled as 'hilarious' yet I don't even crack a smile:-) hugs Jan xx

I'll bet 100 dollars/pound/euros if we ever met face to face I'd have you laughing so hard, you'd be begging me to shut up:) You seem the type who might like my twisted sense of humor, Jan:) My late brother was Aquarius, he was always so reserved.

I'm sure I'd love your humour Daniel and yes I too am quite reserved in 'real life' my humour can shine out in my poems. I wrote this on 24th Jan before the humour contest was posted - I doubt I will enter the contest as my muse is being stroppy at the moment I think my birthday took it out of her lol:-(hugs Jan xx
