How do I make this stop?
Have you ever felt like you’re drowning in the weight of your own mind?
Like you are caught in a storm with no shelter to find?
All your emotions suddenly crash,
It feels like a wild wave you can’t leave behind,
And all you can do is lie still,
Fragile as a child.
Your heart whispers, fight!
But your hands feel as if they are tied,
Your thoughts scream, please act!
Yet you’re paralyzed inside.
Frozen, as the pain rises and swells,
Trapped in a body that feels like its own hell.
You tell yourself, "This is a pain, I can bear,"
But it digs deeper, leaving you gasping for air.
It’s a quiet war, you fought in the dark,
Where every breath feels like tearing you apart.
And you carry it all, not because you’re numb,
Not because you’re too scared to ask for help,
But because you have no choice— no choice but to bear what life lays at your feet.
This weight is all yours
And there’s nowhere else for it to go
No one can lighten the load,
No way to cast it off,
So it stays inside of you,
Breaking you down bit by bit,
As you struggle to hold on.
How do you lift a heart that is too burdened to fly?
You knew deep down, there was no escape, no peace to find,
Only the weight of every thought pressing relentlessly,
On your soul, day after day,
As you carry it, and carry it,
With no choice but to stay.
How do you make it stop!
When all you’ve known is carry and bear?
How do you quiet the storm,
When silence feel so rare?
You wish for it to go away,
For the weight to lift,
But it stays,
A shadow that will not drift.
And so you carry it,
Even as you break,
Even as you bleed.
