It's one of the 10 commandments, Exodus 20:7 KJVS
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."
Many believe this means we shouldn't use Gods name when we cuss or swear. That's probably a good habit to keep from but consider this... Once one is converted to Christianity, we take His name upon ourselves [Christ-ian] and represent Christ because of that.
It also brings to mind the much used metaphor in the Bible of a marriage between Israel and God. And now the church named as the bride of Christ. When a woman becomes a bride, most usually and traditionally, she takes her husband's family name.
This makes her apart of the family officially and legally.
Anyway, lots to think about i hope! That is the meaning behind the chorus of this poem/song.
