Homeless People

Walking on the streets out there
With the little baggage they own,
They walk everywhere
With no where to call home

They are homeless
Who struggles every day
For food and shelter
It's always a battle to pay

They beg for money
To buy food or hot drink
And it's really not funny
If you take time to think

So don't utter harsh words to them
Their future's looking dim.

Hi Darlene, I really liked this poem. It took me back when I was in the Navy. We stopped in the Honduras to refuel and I was on watch on the quarter deck. A line of gentlemen headed towards the ship, single file with their hand on the shoulder of the man in front of him. As they got closer, I saw that they were all blind from conjunctivitis and were coming out to the docks to beg for the trash we were tossing over the side. It had a profound effect on me.

Hello Randy, Oh i do not blame you. that secne would bother me as well. I think people that are blind really have a hard time in life. I met a blind lady in the mall, i was friendly to her. we chatted. As we went to the washroom. a really nice lady. We parted ways and i wished her a great day. One day i will meet her again. Lovely poem Darlene. Thank you for sharing. I /we worked with the homeless back in UK and there were many who preferred that way of life. Even in the depth of winter. Blessings. D.

Hello Thomas Wells,I see the homeless people often. I once was in line in a coffee shop, a homeless woman in front of me. I spoke to her and we had a great conversation. When she left the shop, she waved to me. She made my day. I had made a friend, with her. Enjoy your day my friend.

Hi,I finally got around to reading this one, yes its similar to mine, in the way that we are both aware of this problem and we are humanizing it,  We both have a conpassion, you must understand a great deal about poetry, you know what a sonnet is, proses, haiku, I keep calling mine prose, If im making a mistake, please tell me I should of taken poetry in school, I  thought all poems are supposed to rhyme, well, that's just me, and what do I know? Your works, I think I will start to try to learn it not too late Now is a good time to start One day I will tell you about how I was a film student, I wrote a script and it because a famous Hollywood movie,  I was completely ripped off, and no I'm not claiming gone with the wind

Marc there are different ways to write different types of poetry. I only know a few,and stick with the ones I know, how to write my best.It would be interesting to read how you became a film student.Tell me how you were ripped off. That was nota nice to do to you.No wonder you are angry.

It's endemic in a lot of big cities in this world. It affects all demographics, some you'd be surprised with, highly educated, depression, older men and women, disabled, ptsd, ex-military, children. People need to open their hearts more and not turn their backs. Thank you for this very important poem delivered with sympathy and empathy.

If only more people could show that type of humanity, care, compassion and understanding like yourself Darlene, perhaps we would have a better world for all to live in. There for the grace of God, go I. x
