Holiday Update

Next Memorial Day
  Let's remember all those deceased
Their blood on the hands of those
Who sold us 'Defund the Police'

We'll rename July Fourth
  'USA Dependence Day'
Let the il-Liberty Bell toll
We're all on drugs and the dole

The first Monday in September
  Is still called Labor Day
But who needs to work now
Uncle Sam pays us more to play

How 'bout old Columbus Day
  States now renaming it
'Indigenous Peoples Day' --
  Why not Illegal Aliens Day

And let's not forget Halloween
When scary grownups primp and preen
Trying to fit in costumes to display parts of them
  -- Better left unseen

Of course, last but not least:
Election Day's now a national holiday
How's that different for postal remployees
  Who never show up anyway

A little dark my friend. But you are right... that famous John Kennedy line has been long forgotten by many. Stay frosty my friend.

Ha, ha, I know exactly to what you refer, my scholarly friend. JFK famously said: 'And the football is Bobby's, but the rubber duck is mine!' ~ Moving fo-wahd with vigah! ~ Kamel Lot

That Halloween line describes me year-round now, after (ahem!) putting on a few too many pounds during the lockdowns... Thanks, Anne. :) gw
