Since my wife passed early on, I spend my brief vacays at their local casinos/tribal what have you, whilst they work. It faired differently with the girls knowing I won't sit in a knitting circle but the boys made their wives relay the deed, tho' profitable, hmm. Grant my stays were brief 3/4 days mostly. Thanks, Linda. Aloha, William

Exactly, --it's funny hearing my 47 y.o. boy in their kitchen as he's sneaking out the back going to work, "He's your dad?" "No way!" "Bye, Pops"--GONE! LOL...

I agree William. 3/4 days is all I want to stay, honestly. They have their lives and I have mine. :) Thanks my dear friend! :)

Loved this clever Senryu dear Linda and it made me smile. I’d rather be a guest as I’m not really that great at hosting. You are so good at these short poems. Well chosen crafted words. Enjoyed it. Hugs and smiles to you :):)

Many thanks sweet Christina. Thank you for leaving such nice comments. I think I like brevity because of my past life as a technical writer, where brevity was prized and lauded. LOL Enjoy your weekend! hugs and smiles :)

So true, Linda. When I expect guests, I cannot sleep peacefully as my mind will be preoccupied with thoughts of what I should cook for them. Great Senryu!

I know! The hostess is typically stressed about food, in particular. I imagine your meals are spectacular! Thanks for commenting! :)

Enjoyed your senryu, Linda. Over here we don't celebrate Thanksgiving like you do there; instead we reserve the same for when we celebrate Christmas. ~ Best regards // paul

Hi Paul. Nice to see you. It's definitely not a British holiday, but the poem is for any holiday where family and friends celebrate together, as you say. Thank you for your visit and kind comments. :)

Hi Linda, your outstanding poem reminds me of the 1960s-early 70's when my parents hosted large parties with lots of relatives and friends. After us siblings got into our teens my parents got older and less inclined to entertain. Thank you for triggering good memories. Have a blessed Sunday. ~

Thanks dear Pangie. Into, am guest more than hostess these days. It is rather nice, but I sometimes miss the chaos. LOL hugs my friend. :)

I often ask my wife, "Do these people always stay up this late?" It seems like they never shut up. But I'm not sure I would want it any other way.

It's funny - you enjoy it while they are there and then think, "I missed my 9:00pm bedtime!" Many thanks for the stop-by, Jerry, and comment! Happy Thanksgiving!:)
