- Holiday Blues -

Christmas is full of all emotions
            Mood blue and melancholy
            Deep in a dark drawer
            - Not so much jingle bells
The darkest time of the year,
woven into a web of expectations

Read the writing in the pristine sand
                                  not impossible or invisible
                                  - emotions are allowed
Spill pink ink with gold shimmer
                                  when adversity overshadows you
                                  Blue ... is a joker

             Offer each other space
             by releasing difficult feelings
             Life experiences,
             don't just have simple answers
             Halfway to the answer -
             humanity and love
             Where earth and sky meet
             ... time for reflection

A very wise and sensitive poem . I feel a little blue myself. Xmas is not the same anymore. Grown up grandkids want only cash or gift cards. Let's just all sit around and count our money. Good grief

- Christmas gifts should be about giving each other something that has been thought out and tailored to the recipient, and not an opportunity to raise money... yes, it's sad Andrea - hugs

Thought provoking poetry! For me it brings to mind the many who struggle with seasonal disorder. I empathize and wish warm feelings to replace cold blue one! Hugs great engaging poetry Anne-Lise!

We must never forget the homeless and the lonely, and your moving poetry serves as a potent reminder of this. During the holiday season, when everyone else seems so cheerful, it may be especially hard to cope with feelings of sadness and isolation. Sending best regards and warm hugs

Anne-Lise, your heartfelt poem is a powerful reminder that the needy and the lonely should never be forgotten. Loneliness and sadness are often felt more keenly during the holidays, when others seem so happy. Best wishes.

you've expressed what so many people feel at this time of the year, anne-lise, and i think you've done it brilliantly! it isn't always ho-ho-ho's and joy and it's good to acknowledge that...

Beautiful message, much love is needed, Anne-Lise. Toasts and jingles can’t take a lonely gaze away, true feelings are hidden, we must raise their spirits and help! Perhaps some of your fabulous Ginger cookies xhugs

Anne-Lise, thanks for reminding us that Christmas might be difficult for some of us. You do this with aplomb! I seem to recall that more people become depressed at this time of year since there is a portrayal and expectation that everyone is thrilled and happy at this time of year. However, the issues we have stay with us throughout the year, and you are a saint to point out we can spread humanity and love to help anyone suffering any distress. It's nice to be on the lookout for people to help!!
