Hold On Tightly, When Life Takes Its Great Leaps and Bounds

Hold On Tightly, When Life Takes Its Great Leaps And Bounds Hold on tightly, when life takes its great leaps and bounds this old blue marble is not all sweet virgin ground strewn about are horrendously nasty pitfalls awaiting the fruits of world's constant tempting calls to dive right on in and never mind the dark sin after all, are we not modern, enlightened men? As wise, old philosophers great advice once gave. " Be wise now, for waits only a dark lonely grave". Hold on tightly, raging world ever faster spins as its current master, the dark one sits and grins but modern man believes not in such fairy tales or an afterlife, or chasing a Holy Grail so dive right in, these waters are so very fine and on your new, bright golden plates you too shall dine! As wise, old philosophers great advice once gave. " Be wise now, for waits only a dark lonely grave". Robert J. Lindley, July 02, 2022 Rhyme Note: This is a heavy rewrite of a poem that I composed back in 1977, at age 23 and after going through a very troublesome time in my young life...

Great warning, good at all ages, but especially 20-40. I like the repeated line and quote, As wise, old philosophers great advice once gave. " Be wise now, for waits only a dark lonely grave". Enjoyed the read, Robert. Thanks for rewrite and post my friend. Bill

My dear friend, your deep cautionary poem is as true now as it was then. What tremendous insight and poetic talent you possessed at such a young age. A dark reflective piece masterfully spilled from your golden pen, Robert, that shines like a ray of light in the darkness. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thank you, my friend. As one may surmise Iwas an avid reader of the poetry greats even at an early age. Devoured every book of those golden greats that I could lay my hands on. Bought at an early age, well over a hundred such books. Dedicated my life to an indepth studying of those famous poets, those wonderful minds , those illustrious poets. And not to copy them , but instead to be inspired to find my own way, my own path forward in my composing. God bless.

It's true that life takes great leaps and bounds, it serves us well to heed the wisdom of those who have gained experience.

Thank you, my friend. I do so wish that I had made better decisions in my youth. But the wild streak in me, in my bloodline saw to it that I very often had to learn the hard way. By way of life's many hard knocks. God bless...

From the bitter experiences of life you have learnt a great lesson ! Nothing is permanent ! The ride may seem very thrilling, but unless one holds on tightly, one is likely to fall head down into 'nasty pitfalls' . A great warning dear Robert !

And yes, the lesson was indeed learned. Life was no bed of roses for me but adversity did make me stronger and I survived whereas some do not.

Thank you my friend, so very true- that in youth especially we face such adversity without the lifelong experience that would help us to better cope with making much better decisions on how to handle it. Youth has its advantages and as well it most certainly has its pitfalls due to lack of experience. God bless...
