His Will Be Done

God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son The Tzaddik replied, 'His will be done.' For a son with Sarah, Abraham had prayed But his prayers was not answered 'til very old age All his hopes on Isaac's shoulders; he'd be the one Yet Abraham said, 'The Lord's will be done.' Isaac himself accepted the command Up the mountain with his father he ran You know the story; God withheld Abraham's hand Neither father nor son had to fulfill God's command Both father and son's faith sorely tried, these two Which one was greater? ~ I leave that with you ______________________________________________ Notes: 1. A Tzaddik is a righteous man. 2. Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.

Our faith strong, knowing His spirit is key. Abraham followed God for quite a while before this experience. Amen...God’s will be done.

Gershon, Quite a conundrum posed at faith's door. Surely a thought revealed in quiet prayer, I'm sure. -Richard

Hi Gershon, You asked such a deep and thought provoking question. Or you referring to their faith? They both had strong faith. Abraham listened ( obeyed)to God. Isac laid there, that took much faith. Maybe Issac. That’s my take on such a thought provoking question. What’s the answer my friend?

Ha, ha! You've put me on the spot now, my friend. Personally, I always thought that Isaac had the tougher task here. After all, Abraham heard the command directly from God, while Isaac took his father's word for it. Shows an awesome level of trust and faith... Most rate this one a toss-up, with a very slight nod to Abraham, because he had so many other trials as well perhaps. Thanks for the challenge, Alexis! :) gw

Quite a thought provoking question Gershon, although his faith passed the test, was it the right way to do it? Tom

Abraham was a 'shtarker,' as the expression is in German. Peace, Gershon
