High Powered Woman

She needs that drink to start the day When the children play To get away Meetings, lunch, that damn report The never-ending stress A drink to rest She makes love like the dead Her mind ahead Major decisions, racing instead A drink to unwind To go to bed Tomorrow a drink to get ahead Engagements, talks, drinks to go The high-powered girl has hit the low Make up getting thicker now Drink the crutch Husband having an affair It’s all too much Drinks to get up Starts to fall Crashing down against the wall Pulls herself up In a daze Looks in the mirror In a haze Sees a face A slight trace Pitiful tragic being For the first time seeing The ghost finally screaming She stands up The words would set her free I am an alcoholic

I love this write! Most people down their nose at an alcoholic. Woman or man.. they think they are better. A lot of them have a problem too. They just don’t know it yet.. Any person who can admit to being an alcoholic and doing something about it you say so like going to AA is one of the biggest winners in the world. For that person will get to contribute to society. Men and women get sober daily all over the world. It’s not unusual in every country. Cheers ti her! Pangie xx

Definitely, drink is so available, sociable drug we all get into, but as we know, it can creep up on you. It takes resolve to admit that problem, but the help is there waiting for you if you want it. Hope Santa was good to you.

Hmm..Its like this..I think? Women seem to Think men do all the best? Glamourous? Things.? Anyway off they go 'doing that man Stuff' will it really fulfill them? Then when their Real calling has maybe passed them by.? Yet All humans are similar to an extent.' I think search to Find a happiness in yourself.? On the whole i'd say Its best.'

Yeah, I don't think there's much difference between the sexes anymore. Drink is so easy to be around, and it is still the social thing to do, till it takes over you.

How many people need to admit this to themselves, but so what because another one does not make a difference, and another and yet one more.Women today between their mid twenties to mid forties have girls night out, and return home plastered, how hurtful for a husband or any partner to deal with this, likewise if the roles are reversed. Women are pushing for high powered posts, using up more time, more effort and less time with their loved ones. You chose a great topic to write on and you wrote it SUPERBLY, blessings Paul, Jennifer.

Times sure have changed. The Friday afternoon bar, full of men, has now changed to full of women. Mind you, alcohol doesn't discriminate.

Wow you captured the alcoholic's downward spiral very well. I don't drink and I hate the taste so I don't even get the allure. But I do like red wine once in a while.

One thing with alcohol, there's a lot of choice. Quite like wine myself, beer, some spirits.

Hello Paul, what a great exploration of the struggles faced by strong women in a demanding world. I love how you capture the tension between ambition and vulnerability, illustrating the toll that constant pressure can take. The imagery of drinks as both a crutch and a means of escape is powerful. When I read I thought about what an impactful piece that sheds light on the complexities of modern life! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Drink is always the most accessible crutch. Probably why it causes the most problems for people. Drives you to drink, they tell me.
