Hide Not Your Scars

Hide not your scars

          They define you, explain you. 
            Expose your imperfections 
  With confidence; never hide your scars;
Your soul radiates notwithstanding the scars
   
                Hide not your scars

        I see the beauty within you, still.
  I see light seeping through all the cracks 
  On your soul. Don't keep them hidden 
    Let the world also see. You radiate. 

                Hide not your scars

             I see your true essence.
   I see all of you. You're fine just as is.
     Come to me, dear. Seek refuge in...
 My welcoming heart, imperfect, broken. 

               Hide not your scars

    I see you, not your imperfections.
         I accept you. I embrace you.
          You're loved, in every way.
    You'll always be beautiful, to me.

I had to wear a halo brace for 10 weeks for a broken neck back in 2004, and still have faint traces of scars where the posts were put into my skull. They look like acne scars now, but I hope they can give hope to someone who has to go through that now. Keep poems like this coming!
