Hey Otto
This is a true account
of a day in the life of me
Woke up today
not feeling quite like myself
Went to see what the mirror had to say ...
I didn't appear to be
looking like somebody else
Gave myself the usual wake up:
wash cloth and a toothbrush
Gave myself the morning ritual sheen:
some olive oil and scented hand cream
I seemed to be me, fresh and spry ...
but I had this nagging feeling
something just wasn't quite right
Took my daughter and nieces to the park
to get ourselves a nice, relaxing swim in
The pool was packed as it always was,
hot day diving into cool water was so refreshing
All the children playing,
all the people in the sun laying
Me and my crew had us a good time;
I said to myself, Freddie,
everybody loves the sunshine
When we left the pool,
a band had just got through
performing, and were taking a break
Walking with my eyes slightly closed,
shaking the water out
of the locks of my nappy Afro
A Jamaican-accented voice
hollered out to me: hey, Otto!
The smiling man and his friend
asked me
when will my band start up playing again
My daughter and my nieces bust out laughing,
and teasing me on our walk all the way home
Hey, Otto ... oh sorry, mon
Hey, Otto ...
you look just like
somebody me know
Found out today,
I wasn't quite looking like myself,
Found out today,
I was looking like somebody else
