He's Waiting...

He’s waiting for you to play with him Alone he sits with his dinosaurs and cars Wishing you were here to play too He’s waiting for you to call him Everyday he tells me I want to talk to my daddy He’s waiting for you to hold him When he is hurt or sick he tells me… I want my daddy… He’s waiting for you to see him Everyday he combs his hair and tells me “I’m going to see my daddy.” He sees you in his dreams When he wakes up in the morning he says I played with daddy while I was asleep. And everyday that he waits for you… His heart breaks a little more Not knowing it’s your own selfishness That keeps you away from him. My baby wants a daddy He needs a daddy He loves his daddy even though he’s always away. All I can do is tell him that it isn’t his fault Because it isn’t his fault that you aren’t here for him I tell him that you are sick And he can see you when you are better. My heart breaks for him. His tears fall for you, And you are never here to catch them He’s waiting to be loved He’s waiting to be held He’s waiting for you to reach out to him. I hope that one day he will know He needs to know that he is the most precious thing on Earth. You make him feel less than that How does it make you feel to know That you have that much power over his life And instead of using it to make him a better person You use it to destroy his feelings. I hope that you realize what you do I hope you can’t sleep at night I hope that he treats you in your old age The way that you have treated him as a child A precious soul is being shattered Because of your selfishness Someone will take your place Don’t be surprised when he isn’t waiting for you anymore.
