Heroes

Another pointless foreign conflict, where our brave men and women are fighting for Queen and Country. But where is the respect when they return home? Hold them in awe, for they are heroes all. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (C) 20-5-17 Entered in Lewis Raynes' 'Foreign War' contest.

You have penned a most excellent Nonet with a very deep, powerful message, my friend! I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments particularly since my son is a soldier who is serving his country and is putting his life on the line. I am sure this special piece will be on the winners list! Thank you and a 7. Best wishes. Pandita

Good Morning John. So very true. Contest or no contest this entry stands on its own. This pertains to any man or women present past or future who defend their respected country and for mankind itself. Your words have been received. Good luck with the contest. Well done entirely with the Nonet format. Enjoy the morning and day.

Thank you for your kind comments, Lisa. Always appreciated! You're so right that this equally applies to all combatants that have been or ever will be... and therein lies the real tragedy. Thank you for stopping by. All the best, John.

Wars are not foreign for those that serve. They are very, very personal with at times a very simple choice, live or die. Until you've experienced it, you can't conceive of such horror. Respect is a small price for such sacrifice. Well done John...

A 7 for this well-written, SO TRUE nonet, John. Here in the U. S., it's much the same. It seems that ours--especially Vietnam vets--haven't received the respect they deserve! Janice

Hi Janice. So true about Vietnam - the wars change, but unfortunately the lies and the attitudes remain the same. Thank you for your kind comments. Regards, John.

a hero saves, a hero sacrifices....a hero utilizes all devices....a hero serves to keep us strong....i never knew i was a hero all along.....but after all is said and done....a hero's war is only won....when he or she accepts the fact...that to be a hero, only God determines how you act....
