Hero and Leander - the Surface From Depth

Leander loved Hero, who lived on the opposite side of the strait, and would swim to her each night, but was drowned in a tempest. Hero in despair cast herself into the sea.* What body this asea all vision past This hallow'd temple bobbing half-between? What vengeful God has sheath'd fond Hero's light Commanding tempest fingers long and lean? To wake no more no more to pad the fields Of hyacinth on fair Abydos' shore; Is truth deep gone asparay in jet-black waves Which buoy the spirit on no more no more What figure this at peace which calmly drounds While all around the shrieking bedlam raves? What zealous spectral God does rage above Disturbing not the silence of the grave? *Bullfinch Mythology

HI, Daver, thanks for commenting on my thanksgiving write. I wonder if this one was in that book you gave me. This poem based on mythology. I wish I could find some of the childhood ones of yours that I have not read yet. But i think I may have read everything you wrote here at Soup! Great words in this one, Daver. You never answered my questions in my last email to you! Luv, Andrea

Love your passion for Greek Mythology. It is understandable as so much is emotionally enchanting and a wonderful inspirational tool for writing. I have been obsessed with different eras, legends, fantasies. For example the Lord of the Ring trilogies. I read all 4 books twice and have seen the movies countless times. I believe there are other worlds than we know of. Which brings me to The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Why am I Rambling? Sorry! Awesome write. Love, Shar
