Notes About The Poem

Quatern
A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain.
The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four.
A quaternary has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.

Her Spring Frock

Nature poses in Her spring frock, dressed in all Her regal splendor. And tends Her gladiolas, in the guise of a flower vendor. Her hair perfumed with jasmine, Nature poses in Her spring frock. And the epitome of poise, She sits gracefully on a rock. She wears a hat spun by the sun, adorned with a sweet yellow rose. Nature poses in Her spring frock, looking graceful in Her new clothes. Gentle waves caress weedy shores, where azure and green interlock. And on such a beautiful day, Nature poses in Her spring frock. (Quatern) Jan.17, 2016.

Emile, I ADORED this poem. The only problem was that you did not use constant rhyme as described in the rules. Otherwise, you would have probably taken first or second place. That was the only thing that brought down your score. Congrats. Since quaterns don't need to be rhymed anyway (only for my contest) you are still left with an amazing poem!

Thanks Andrea, I didn't know you required aa, bb, rhyme pattern, I did ab, cb, rhyme pattern... sorry about that, I'm grateful for the placing, in so much as I didn't adhere to the rules, you are most gracious, thanks again. Emile.
