Her Eyes Were Like Fireflies

My thoughts grow dark this starless night My spirit subdued in silence, The one who used to lift my spirit Is as distant as the charcoal sky I drift in thought in a flight of gloom And wings of sadness soon grow weary She used to be my sun, my moon And the twinkle in the stars Weary wings glide into slumber And soon I'm lost in dreams into my dreams she then appears The windows of her soul were like distant stars Twinkling on and off, Her eyes were like fireflies, Lighting up my starless night ~ 9-23-18 Verses of Metaphors II Contest Sponsor: Laura Loo

Well written Joseph. So sad in the beginning and then what feels like a nice turn around at the end. :)
