Henpecking

Want an easy lay?
said the rooster to the hen
He was being straight
she had gone quite gay
and could lay in any
position she wanted
except sideways

She did it in the coop
mostly around the hay
Not once a month
on any given day
she only dwells
for a moment
when a hand takes
her lays away

Instead of clutching at straws
She’s up for life today
never produces a chick
Sits on eggshells
it beats the tray
Broody little thing
I like her type
sunny side up anyway

Hi David, I have also been on and off soup for a while as business pressures called for due diligence. Congratulations on POTD. Tend to agree with Jan, don't like eggs much, but hubby and I had breakfast at a cute little cafeteria this morning and their omelette was parfait! Eggs hand picked from the hay in the coop where broody chickens lay!!!!! Hugs, Jennifer.

I didn’t get POTD for this one, Anaya was referring to a comment she seen me make on a POTD, how very nice Jennifer (parfait) sounds really light and tasty, I’m delighted you stopped by to comment on this one, of course a lot of tongue in cheek going on around the coop, still I can’t help feeling on the face of it, that chickens get a raw deal, cheers David

That broody hen would do herself a favor by staying away from peckers... if she's a smart chick. Telling those roosters, "Cockadoodle DON'T!" I'm not much of an egg eater either. Nice write, David. A titch out of the norm for you, but you set your own norm.

Sorry ladies I missed the thread expanding, peckers lol! I get it Lin, I think most people are copping on too, or will give in time!

You aren't butting in, Jan. Some peckers are just out for themselves, pretending they want to bring peace to the site. I'd call that hypocrisy when the intent is exactly the opposite. There's nothing wrong with stating an opinion as long as it doesn't slander or hurt another poet.

She is better off without them (peckers) Lin, who needs them when you can lay yourself lol, yes a little out of the norm for me, but my muse has been scrambled of late, I’m just trying to put it back together with whatever I can, thanks again, cheers David
