Hello Summer

Heaven splayed a sun so unassailable that it scorched the earth. Even the creek beds, dried with crackled skin, plead for rain. Lost are the sounds of now silent frogs and swishless fish Left behind, Spring satisfies its wanderlust across hemispheres. Opportune Summer disburses its virulent heat. Solstice day exposes long hours and hot temperatures Under a sweltering Sun consulate for communal celebration. Many praise the shift in seasons while others Mind the rituals of fertility, vestral life, and bountiful harvest. Either way, I greet Summer with outstretched arms Reaching for transcendent heights unknown to Spring.

Summer may grow intolerably hot sometimes. Yet I too welcome summer with open arms. Beautiful poem, dear Linda !

Hello my friend. I do love the summer, but my poor garden suffers. It is not accustomed to triple-digit temperatures with such intense heat! Thanks for reading and commenting! :)

A hot one here Linda-Alice, i almost became a Victim of sunstroke, as i travelled its lines.' I think climates have always altered, and man Could be better at things Like not creating war..That cant help areas, and like the Train crashes, and toxic cargos yet the So called eco aware bodies smooth It over..Or try too? I shall think of hammocks ball games a stroll to the corner For some ice-lollies O no they got rid of the shop So we could drive to malls.' Similar Leading bodies? Oh well!

Yes, here, too Joe. It's hard to keep up with watering the flowers. They look so sad. Even 50 years ago, the flowers suffered in the Texas sun, but they always managed to survive and revive! Thanks for your visits and comments my friend! :)

Linda, I like your poem, a lot, I welcome summer too but it is very hot here in my part of Canada, unbearable really, we have had no rain in a long time, and I fear for the farmer's crops, global warming is a real issue !

Hi Constance. Summer in Texas is challenging at times. Not nearly as hot as some other places I have lived. I'm not sure if it is the heat, the sun's intensity, humidity, or a combination. No matter, hot is hot. I have loved every part of Canada that I have visited. I don't remember it ever being hot, and I empathize with your farmers. LOL Stay cool. :)

In certain parts of the world, summer can hardly be bearable. In Malta we had a mild winter. I dread summer. It will be very hot.
