Held Hostage

I'm held hostage to a dream
A dream of what could be
A dream of you and me
and love's eternity

I'm held hostage to a dream
A dream that you can change
that fate can rearrange
our dommed reality

I'm held hostage to a dream
A dream that passion's kiss
Will heal what is amiss
Renew affinity

I'm held hostage to a dream
A dream of prefect peace
Of wounded pride's release
Regained vitality

I'm held hostage to a dream
A dream of lasting love
What hopes are all made of
A sweet comraderie

This hostage must break free
I've finally come to see
To rewrite destiny
My savior I must be

Post Script...

I'm a hostage who's found release
Please, don't come looking for me.

Dear... there are times I would not mind being a hostage, but this poem doesn't reflect that. ;) I wonder how you interpreted this. Thanks for the visit.

Your message reads loud and clear Eileen, we are Saviors of our own lives, and when we save us, we save the world at large. Love your introspective verse, hope you keeping well, much love :)

“ im held hostage to a dream” that line! I resonate with too, and i think many might, and i love how evocative and touching this poem is, theres a softness to your words woven , about something that is so deep, and yes “This hostage must break free I've finally come to see To rewrite destiny My savior I must be” i agree! Sometimes we need that reminder. Pleasure reading this! Sending you light

Thank you, Debbie. We often think a rescuer will come along. We need to take ownership of our own happiness and peace of mind... it's a lesson I'm trying to learn. Blessings

I also feel like a hostage at times, but of age that starts slowing down in thoughts and remembrance. Hope you are well. Blessings to you my friend

Oh, dear. I hear you! We're hostages to a great many things, but I hope we find outlets to help us cope. Blessings, dear one.

I'm glad you like it. Often times in relationships that are toxic, someone remains because of the hope that it will get better or the person will improve. People don't change... only by the grace of God can change happen. Thanks for stopping by
