Heaven Waits

Heaven never rests
While pinecones, green with youth
Cling to promises the sun will conquer-

Heat waves rising off pavement
Covering centuries called progress

Wings, heavy with fatigue, settle
For any patch of green to rest

Unable to locate the wetlands
Drained to rivers that now run
Straight to shareholders, blinded
By greed

Only at night, away from the city
Lights, can I see the stars
Invite travel to a natural world

Untouched by man

         Untouched

Yes, modern society is taking over a good portion of the area but there is still much untouched by man..If man keeps doubling, don't know for how long..Enjoyed your creative and expressive write..Great topic on which you have written..Sara
