Heaven Hails a Happy Man
Pause, ponder as only man can,
Freed from mind's prison, what-if's pall,
Know, heaven hails a happy man.
Right things do happen to man, when
He hearkens to soul's silent call,
So pause and ponder as ye can.
Do take a panoramic pan,
View that the world's no hospice hall,
It’s time it hails a happy man.
Enough this ill-gotten suntan,
Stop chasing things, why run at all?
O pause to ponder as man can.
Pray, all that ye have to do then—
Is to bridge a gulf fall a wall,
Be closer in a happy den.
This done, be a free bird again,
Dawns dawn, not when reigns of nights fall,
And haply feel that ye sure can,
Heaven hails such a happy man.

This poem hails affirmation of faith in the instinctive and contemplative, uncomplicated life of man. It repudiates indirectly highly intellectual and too rational an approach to life.
