Enough this ill-gotten suntan, Stop chasing things, why run at all? O pause to ponder as man can. Pray, all that ye have to do then— Is to bridge a gulf fall a wall, Be closer in a happy den. This done, be a free bird again, Dawns dawn, not when reigns of nights fall, And haply feel that ye sure can, Heaven hails such a happy man. ____________________________________________________ This poem hails affirmation of faith in the instinctive and contemplative, uncomplicated life of man.
