"Heather" such a tumultuous quiet discourse crochet hooked and thinking on wheels, the wrong turns, sometimes thoughts move to the recalcitrant one, another tumultuous heart, mixed feelings like heavy storm clouds move towards the vociferous missing one, who looks on from that place in the gut, intuition, the compass and metronome set, viewed in the mind's eye, amygdala, from afar and considers messages passed on by a lost child, the keeper of a secret to be kept, the child immovable, concerned for all, the quiet closed mindedness of it all, hooking loops, like a missed stitch in time, how one could have assisted, yet became a back turned, calling in others to turn, a lost chapter, a forgone conclusion, the terrible failure of it all the one writing thinks of the royal colour, Purple, and remembers the sister of Heather laid out like a pale Rose in a silent garden, risen the Rose remains standing by All, steadfast unseen, perplexed, yet somehow understanding, watching over, both stubborn purple bruised stories unfurl Love arrives on the wings of angels visiting the obdurate in dreams, who stay close always though worlds apart, the ghost remains, day by day walking next to wheels that turn of the one seated like a Queen unable to walk, bloody minded unable to talk, crochet hooked shifting gears automatic, the ghost guiding quite hauntingly strange quills like keys far away, that move hands of time to leave abstract messages on a wall like music notes scored to be understood and conveyed LOVE, despite it all, moves mountains covered in Heather the Royal colour purple the envelope opened, the message relayed, before a forest a waiting Rose and the mind of a girl new chapters new worlds meet in dreams far away (LadyLabyrinth / 2023) hmm (forrest); and ljb, llb “I am permitted to travel in the corridor between sky and heather" empathy.

Thank you Christina. Creativity, is a beautiful thing, when it comes from the heart, light and dark, glued back together with poetry. I have read your poems this morning with great interest, as you are new territory for me. Beautiful writing, some of your thoughts transporting from another era. Classic. Love.

Thank you. I can write lovely sometimes, Belle Bellevue, but a rare thing indeed when I put it out there for all to see, like standing naked in a crowd. I write ghosts, storms and shipwrecks better...

Warmest congratulations on POTD, LL. I see you are drawn to the colour purple, which energetically speaking corresponds to the Sahasrara located at the fontanel. Love dissolves in its womb, all opposites, being but dance of polarities conjured by unawakened souls, for at end of days, all that is, is the eternal light of Self alone.

Thank you sage Seeker. I love ALL colours, including black and white (which really aren't colours), but I do love Purple very very much, my favourites though, are Blue and Green. The truth is, all colours are required to compliment the spectrum of the rainbow. In the end what you say is correct, "Love dissolves in its womb, all opposites." And I do agree, with, "for at end of days, all that is, is the eternal light of Self alone".

Akkina Downing!! Where hast thou been? So lovely to see you gracing the consommé with your beautiful thoughts and deep words. You were one of the first I read quite a lot of when I first swam in these pages in 2017. I hope you are well and that you are safe and loved. For some reason, I had the notion that you were Hawaii based, but I'm not so sure. Lovely to see you back. Thank you for the kind comment.

Thank you Bill. All of us (writers/poets), in our own meanderings walking over and through the tomes, usually found when we visit our "forests" (I take guidance from D.H. Lawrence), and those haunting the edges of their woods and oceans, wordplaying the limericks of their lives, in their own disenchanted or misguided scurrilous ways, are deep and meaningful. At the heart of it all, underneath the rough, tough skin of it all, is LOVE, in one form or another. Writing is a journey into the forest (for me) to work the puzzle of it all out. Family for many is a puzzle, that unfortunately for some, is only worked out towards the end of their journey here in this life. Let us hope the one I wrote it for understands the Love behind it all (if they don't, I fear I will find myself in the sin bin again, back to the drawing board).

I shall continue to try, until my last breath. This poem Heather, written for the stubborn women in my family, (yet, for one in particular), who are ALL my guiding light, in one way or another - and LOVE, is behind it all. Writing brings it front and centre. Relationships in family can be quite complex, add women into the mix...it can go either way - supportive or competitively opinionated, defensive and non-supportive...I veer towards and I am energised by the more 'supportive' and non-judgemental women in this life. Competition is all well and good and healthy in some respects, but perhaps 'team spirit' brings in the 'real' big wins.

Thanks for your support Paula, your friendship and your comment. Our lives seem to be not so significant here in the pages of Poetry Soup, compared to the fate of the lives of those lost in Lahaina, Maui (and other fires and atrocities) wiping out the lives of humanity in our world. Especially, I am heartbroken when I consider the loss of all those beautiful children in the world, through war, famine, and now the terrible atrocities of weather (climate change); I refer to the loss of lives of children who perished in the Maui fires, unaccounted for, some alone. I am thinking this is what you refer to when you mention children above (and my previous poem, Chasing the Fire). The loss of innocent lives is devastating (add those pets who provide 'unconditional' love, so very sad).

I was in hospital when that all broke out, so was not even aware of it until this past weekend, when I watched the copious videos and read articles in horror of Lahaina's destruction. It is even more heartbreaking when one delves into the history of the Hawai'in Nation and their people. Now we have fires in America and terrible flooding; it is happening world wide. Are we in the end of days? It would be hard not to think it so, sometimes. It rams it home, how very important LOVE and support family/friends and "community" are...many in this life, seem to be isolated and alone, when they should not be.

LOVE is all that matters, this is purely my opionion of course. Some may resonate with it. I think underneath everything in this life and particularly when one considers mortality, our very last thought will bring us back to our earliest cognisant consideration/thought, what we entered this world and arrived looking for, and that is LOVE. Perhaps the major lesson is LOVE.

The courage to attempt new strategies will evoke new outcomes. Indeed, courage to keep trying shall evoke new and better outcomes. Whether between heaven and heather, garden and hearth, or friend and foe, we are conduits for improving circumstances! "So it's off to the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul" -John Muir __If we all thought of God as our mothers, the world be would be in a much better place right now-Arthur's comment - (I may agree)to your lovely "Lost Daughter"

I wrote this poem for my mother's sister, her name is Heather; I also wrote it for the other women in my life. I just don't think we arrive in this world as a scientific joining of egg and sperm. We carry within us a 'soul' and we were all introduced to our families (our friends and our communities) with a 'purpose', I do think we are given a chance and a choice to do it all again, if we 'F' it up in the original assignment (re-incarnation). All rather woo-woo, I know, but I can be a bit very left-of-centre that way (let us not forget, verbose).

I think when you consider trauma and hardship, those who have the strength to push through it all and survive, will be quite adept at strategising and of course, this usually occurs when one has gone through a very Dark Night of the Soul and has broken and shattered into a million pieces. Reflections are seen in the pieces of oneself and slowly we put ourselves back together with the glue that is LOVE; we walk around like living kintsugi. It takes great courage - and many have this in them, even though they think they do not.

Answers are usually found in the silence and in the light which eventually emanates from oneself in the dark. Supportive family, friends, community are a godsend; but inevitably, we eventually find the answers and the solutions out ourselves, in our silent contemplation. Sometimes that requires walking into the Lawrence Forest (D.H. Lawrence quote / forest). Now, I have known for quite some time your real first name, which is the same as my grandmother’s (my mother’s mother) – and she was an exceptional character. What did William Makepeace Thackeray say, " 'Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children." It would not surprise me if God was female...but we are imbued with the dogma we were made in the image of man. Personally, because I'm a little bit bolchie - I think God is gender-neutral, you know, "they-them". Thank you for your friendship and comments along the journey here in the Consommé forest. Thankfully, a sense of humour prevails.

Beautifully crafted and thought provoking. Is it love and empathy that let us travel between the sky and heather? I think so. Congrats on POTD

Thank you Sara. I shall have to go read your poems/stories, as you are a new book to me. :) I write to learn about myself, as much as to learn about the mechanations of others. Sometimes, one can get completely lost in the forest, but it has been my experience, that when one gets lost, one has to find their own way out and through that the answers and the paths are found. It can be a real labyrinth sometimes, but that is the adventure and the mysterious wonderment of it all. The good and the bad, the high and the lows. We are all carrying light and dark in our bones and being. No one is perfect, we are all imperfect, but there is beauty to be found in imperfection if one digs deep.

Thank you. Automatic writing is a blessing sometimes. :) I shall probably be sent to the halls of Hell for that one, by the dogma society. I don't know where the words come from sometimes, it's a real mystery. Welcome to the soup, I understand from the Stickman, you are a fine poet. I will have to visit your kingdom.

Thank you Hiya Sharma. I sometimes manage to produce something of beauty that is significant to me, my family, sometimes others outside that glass house and it usually comes from a place called LOVE (as does all my writing, even underneath the more stormy tumultous revolutionary soap box barrages). I shall go read your poems/stories, as I do not think I have come across your pages before - I am sure I shall find some beautiful blooms and treasured jewels.

"Under the surface her body is curled, seed of the one race, shell of the world. She is the waterfall, she is the womb, she is the bubble, she is the tomb. Her hair flows upward, blood red of the birth. Her arms are folded deep into the earth. She is the fern, she is the bark, she is the lantern, she is the dark. Her eyes burn the flame of the old and the young. Her breath is the name of each branch of each lung. She is the ingredient. She is the blend. She is the beginning. She is the end.”
