He Thinks He's a Real Man

He thinks he's a real man

I know a few guys
who won't look you in the eyes
they wear a great disguise.... yeah

maybe you know them too

All the fancy gold he buys
real work he never tries
spends his days inventing lies
got no time for goodbyes...

but, he's ...gonna end up alone!

Chorus
His heart is stone, his heart is stone
he imitates all he's ever known
so many seeds he's sown
he's a child tho full grown
He doesn't have a real plan...
and he thinks he's a real man.

Himself, he always tries to please
he only likes her, when she's on her knees
he doesn't like it when you tease
he only loves her when she agrees

but, he's gonna end up all alone

His point of view he does enforce
his language is real coarse
he screams until he's hoarse
he's surprised with the divorce

yeah, he's gonna end up alone

Chorus
His heart is stone, his heart is stone
he imitates all he's ever known
so many seeds he's sown
he's a child tho full grown
He doesn't have a real plan...
and he thinks he's a real man.

I know a few guys
who won't look you in the eyes
they wear a great disguise.... yeah

maybe you know them too!

Chorus
His heart is stone, his heart is stone
he imitates all he's ever known
so many seeds he's sown
he's a child tho full grown
He doesn't have a real plan...
and he thinks he's a real man.

yeah, thinks he's a real man
yeah, thinks he's a real man
repeat and fade

Sad to see this happening ever so often, John, no wonder fatherless children aren't mature enough, I have seen all types of problems in children of broken families or single parents...

This is great, Brother, makes me think of Rap artists, though maybe that's stereotyping ... kids with money and no character or manners. I hear this as a Rock anthem or R&B groove ... super write, my friend - you are a superb lyricist! :-)

Hey thanks Greg, I appreciate the comment, yeah I was thinking with the mono rhyme it has a rap feel, to it so R&B would be a good fit. Thanks for the compliment, now if only I could find my Elton John to put music to them, that would be cool. Take care buddy!

Thanks Arturo, I'm not much of a performer, but this definitely lends itself to a certain rap vibe, not my normal style but posted it for the social message. I thank you for the nice visit!

Your lyrical expose is sadly so true of a number of self centered shallow men that I've heard about. It amounts to bullying. They don't display finesse and feel they are the wounded party when friends male or female become aware of them and desert them. As the saying goes ' you can fool people some of the time - but you cannot fool people all of the time' Great write John - would have loved to hear it to music. Would be great in 'Rap' rhythm ... Thanks Maria, it was actually after reading your collab poem with WW that I thought I would pull out and dust off what I've kept for a while, it is kind of a rap style but thought it wouldn't go over well, but worked up the nerve and voila. So you had an indirect influence on this write, thanks for the nice words!

Well written John, a sad but all true commentary on life for a lot of young people today, Its very true of my town in England, young mothers of mixed race children, high unemployment and crime. It will probably only get worse. Kindest regards, Kevin

Thanks Kevin, yeah I lived in Vancouver and Toronto and it's a big problem, I tried to escape to a small town and it's the same here, no moral guidance and the cycle repeats, thanks for your comment!

So many children are latch-key, left on their own so they think they know how to handle life. They really are children, with no idea of responsibility. A wonderful chorus, John.
