He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

I sit among a field of springtime clover

Honeybees gathering sweet nectar as they hover

I'm daydreaming of last night's encounter

Right here on this fragrant carpet of green and white

Were the kisses real?

Was the moon that bright?

I pull petals from a daisy, one after the other

Chanting, he loves me, he loves me not, my lover

Here among a field of springtime clover

Oooh the old lover's pastime. This was really sweet and sincere, Donna... very enjoyable to read. I know this is off topic, but I'm reminded of a Far Side Comic. It showed two giant flowers picking up a human... in the caption it said "Okay now WE are going to play She-loves-she-loves-me-not". Gary Larson's imagination is so bizarre! Lol...

Has the world lost out on the belief in Daisys and 4 Leaf Clovers? I think not, but there are areas of our society who have indeed lost the joy of these and other "fairy tales" and we as a society pay dearly for this loss. I like this poem, too, and reminds me of a day I sat on the front lawn of Andrew Jacksons home near Nashville with my twin sons 7 years old, and found no less than 14-4 leaf clovers. 23 years later and life is still wonderful. Another good poem from you.

How wonderful. 14! Wow...I have one pressed in a book and pulling petals from daisies was a common past time for small girls where I grew up...small town charms...wouldn't trade them for the world
