He Is Gone

Silence like a bird without song
Lost rays of heat when day was long
Cool breeze of seasons gone

Past words of love that go amiss
Romantic days so full of bliss
Promises are long gone

Lifetime of love that seemed fleeting
Flames of passion now retreating
Years that have come and gone

Memories just left to enshrine
When love was once so truly mine
All that before - for he is gone!

Love in full bloom when road blocks are deployed, must be the saddest love of all. When it slowly slips away, there are "slippery when wet" "proceed with caution" even "detour" signs to warn you, and prepare for what's coming. When a road block suddenly appears, there is not time to apply the brakes, and love hits with full force, leaving a damaged heart and memories. An amazing poem Chris. Thank you.

Dear SV, thank you so much for leaving such beautiful, thoughtful comments here. Poetry in itself! I love how you have mentioned road blocks and signs. How true are your words. Reflective comments that I have so enjoyed reading and gratefully received. Much gratitude to you :):)

Dear Andrea, I so enjoy your visits and you always put a big smile :) on my face my lovely. I’m so slow at writing poems (hence not many yet) that I reckon I would win lots of prizes for the slowest poet ever! I’m in awe of anyone, especially you, who can write magnificent poems at speed and sometimes several a day! Awesome! I applaud you all. I’ve just checked and don’t think you’ve visited ‘Tis You’ and ‘Willow’. Now I’m thinking about it, I have a feeling same title with the ‘willow ‘as one of your poems. If I’m right, I’m so sorry. I shall be reading and enjoying lots more of your poetry and learning from you in 2024. Hugs and New Year wishes xx

Amazing Christina, I feel sadness in these words, but this is something that happens every day. It's so deep, that I can walk on the shoes of every word you wrote. Do you know?....Every day I enjoy more and more reading your poems. I will read them little by little. Sometimes, it takes me a while, because I need to translate some words to appreciate the complete meaning. At the same time, I'm learning a little bit more. I loved it. Have a nice evening my friend Christinaxxxx

You spread words onto the screen like spreading a handcrafted quilt. It means so much to the reader because you let your heart be felt.. Magic Christina.

Lovely, touching and sad all in one, Christina. Lost love leaves an impact on a person's life, and you project that in this poem. I like your rhyming, and the repeated "gone" which leaves its mark. ~ Regards // paul
