He Had To Live Up To Bad
His excuses were flimsy. She did not mind.
He lied flat out over and over. She steadily forgave him.
He became violent. She lied for him, making her own excuses.
He said he was innocent of her murder. No one believed him.
Character witnesses were hard to come by for the defending lawyers.
His own mother took the stand, glared at him, pointed and said,
“My boy was bad from birth. He never was any good.”
A gasp could be heard throughout the court room.
Everyone knowing now why he had to be so bad.
