Have I Ever Told You That

Have I ever told you that … as you lie next to me I know that you are cheating …I have seen both you and she I heard you talking on your phone You’d no idea that I was home darling this and darling that Your soup my dear ~ in that I spat It made me sick it made me sad But watching as you sipped your soup you smiled at me and said “Not bad” you even asked if there was more I smirked behind that kitchen door I wished I’d put that cockroach in to give your lunch that extra crunch Together forever both you and me Your cheating heart I could not foresee I thought our love was strong and deep Till death us do part our vows we would keep Though you had other plans it seems You called her name out in your dreams Did you know I loved you so and will not be the one to go So as you eat up every morsel so flavoursome and so unique A pinch of this ~ A pinch of that Braised in wine ~ slow cooked with herbs A Rat’tat’touile for a cheating rat have I ever told you that… This poem is totally fictional but my muse was certainly running naked through those bullrushes, haha… Written 1st November 2020 Contest: Have I ever told you that Sponsor: John Lawless 2nd PLACE 16th January 2021 Contest Name COMPLETELY YOUR CHOICE(41) Sponsor Brian Strand 8th Place

A beautifully twisted take on the contest theme Anne. that last tercet could make all "cheaters" go vegan. thanks for entering the contest

"Revenge is a dish best served cold" as the proverb goes, but on this occasion it seemed to be served hot and spicy with maybe a little crunch to add interest, haha... Thank you so much for your comments and congrats Linda. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

This is fantastic, Ann. Maybe you should have added some laxative. Would clean his inside and serve him right. ~~

yes that would have been a good idea Victor, haha... My original thoughts were much darker, but decided on this version. We were both so lucky to have had wonderful loving partners as so many seem to 'stray'. Keep safe and well dear Victor. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

he most certainly did Tom... When I saw the subject for the contest my muse went out of control, and as I fought to restrain her, well this was the result, haha... Feeling quite down with all that is going on and the dark evenings too, but we are all in it together and at least I can escape with my poetry. Keep safe my friend. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
