Haunted Mansion - Beware

Haunted Mansion – Beware!

Abandoned mansion cries in loud creaks and groans
From deep within the dark cellar ghostly moans
Attic lights flicker...then suddenly turn off
By unseen hands of haunted souls castoff.

Windows rattle, winds intone incantations
Of tangled webs to strangle all sensations
Hallways echo spectral chants as terror flows
Reeling rhythms - eerie haunted vertigo.

Deep in vaults dark plots of midnight roses grow
Thorny canes drip with poisons like black snow
Chalice filled with toxic brews from blighted petals
Touches lips in a toast of stinging nettles.

All doors and windows tightly locked and chained
Only unheard shrieking prayers still remain
Foreboding fears smothers like a phantom kiss
When screams free fall into a bottomless abyss

Valsa, heartfelt gratitude for your note of congratulations! There is something about a haunted house that is indeed mesmerizing. Although, I once spent a night in an old bed and breakfast that I am sure was haunted. There was a presence in my bedroom that was totally frightening! Couldn't wait to leave the next morning! Have a very Happy, not haunted, Halloween! Blessings sweet friend!

Mala, my friend - thank you so much from my Telltale Heart! I think this poem was the product of an over active imagination fed on childhood ghost stories. I do love the creepy, eerie part of Halloween - fingertips on the back of the neck! We decorate our front porch in ghosts, lights and Mr. Bones who welcomes trick or treaters! Have a delightfully spooky Halloween my friend. Much love and a hug! :o

"Attic lights flicker...then suddenly turn off/ By unseen hands of haunted souls castoff". Vaults where dark plots of midnight roses grow and chalices filled with toxic brews from blighted petals' are indeed haunting. What a spooky scene you have painted. I love to read on haunted houses and walking phantoms. The spectral scenes you have presented here give a thrill and chill to me. Into my FAVE, Sam

Oh Micheal, may your dreams not be filled with nightmares! I would feel so responsible if you lost sleep :s. We'll have to talk to Tania about her contest themes - ha! ha! I guess the moral of the story is to stay out of those abandoned mansions. This poem also reminds me not of candy or treat or treating but of the way we can laugh at ghosts and goblins because of Jesus' victory - "death, where is your sting?" Sending you blessings of sweet dreams!
