Hated Job

My worst job that of washing DeLaval, Machine for separating milk from cream. Yes, I remember that so very well. That nasty job was truly a bad dream. We had no running water on the farm And had to heat it on the old wood range. Water cooled off fast, couldn't keep it warm And needed kettle boiling for exchange. Wash water soon turned into milky slime, The water from our well was very hard. With no sewer to accept it at the time, I had to pour wash water on the yard. My daddy was so proud of his machine, But I was she who had to keep it clean. For Sara's contest: "Job" 11/14/14

Great poem, Joyce! My husband's mom was raised on a farm with cows, and I believe she used to talk about this procedure! Nicely written! Congratulations on your win! Hugs, Sandra

Sounds very interesting Joyce. I used to have to clean the big milk container when the truck sucked the milk out. The worst time was in the winter. Congratulations on your win, I really enjoyed reading this.
