Harry the Hedgehog
Harry the hedgehog was wandering by
Looking for a spot where he could fly,
This is quite serious cause hedgehogs you see
Well, they sort of wobble along just like me.
He wobbled along till he came to the pond
He looked at the rock that the frog sat on,
"If I flew off of there I just might get wet,"
And he chewed a hole in his bottom lip.
Miss Katydid sat on the back of a chair
And he wondered how she got way up there,
She gave a great leap, did a double back flip
And landed on poor Harry's sore little lip.
As he wandered along an old crow flew by
And swooped toward Harry from way up high,
And I heard Harry say as he gave a big sigh
"Won't somebody help me learn how to fly?"
Just about then a vulture flew in
And dug his claws into Harry's skin,
Then off he flew at a terrible pace
With Harry dangling from the Vulture's legs.
They dipped and dived, swooped and swirled
Until Harry thought they were leaving this world,
When suddenly he whirled and dove back toward earth
And sat Harry down by a big pile of dirt.
He wobbled his way to the top of this heap
Trying to decide if he should make the big leap,
He puffed up and bristled and to my surprise
Tears started to flow from his little eyes.
As his sore lip trembled, I heard him say
"I guess there'll be no more flying today."
I wanted to ask him what the matter could be
When I heard him say, "I got air sick you see."
Now Harry the hedgehog wobbles along,
Humming his own little hedgehog song,
He's happy, as happy as he can be
"I'll just wobble along like grandma," said he.
